Alcanada

This route takes you to the beach of Alcanada, in front of the island with the same name. The coast is low with sections of pebble beach. One of the main attractions of the site is the vegetation that grows very close to the sea, although it was partly damaged by the storm of 2001. The Alcanada Golf Course is also located in the area.

The route begins at the gate of Xara or el Moll. Exit Alcúdia on carrer de Pollèntia towards the port. Use the pavement of the right if you are walking. Enter the port along carrer de Teodor Canet. Reach the fishermen’s harbour, on the right. Continue at first along carrer de Gabriel Roca and afterwards along camí d’Alcanada. Follow this road to reach Alcanada..

Old Power Station The road rises up and on the right you will see the old power station in disuse and Torre Major, a tower from the early 17th century to watch and defend the coast in the times when the pirates raided the area. Cross the Alcanada residential area. The most attractive section of coast begins just before leaving the residential area. The road comes out of a forest onto the beach, After several hundred metres you will be in front of the island of Alcanada.

Return along the same route. However, there is a small variation after the port when you are returning to Alcúdia. Take the short yet very interesting camí del Teatre Romà (Roman city road). Turn left as the road runs parallel to the main road.
