Camí de s’Hort des Moros – Camí de s’Alou

This route explores the both bright and shady interior roads that run in between dry-stone walls. We recommend that you travel by bicycle. The route starts and finishes at the Gate of Xara of Alcúdia. To exit the city follow carrer del Bastió de Santa Maria. At present the remains of the bastion contain the Porta del Moll School. Follow the wall towards Morer Vermell. The wall connects with the bastion of Sant Ferran, the best preserved bastion. The health centre and the local police offices are located just in front of the bastion. Exit the city and reach the Ca s’inglès residential area.
Leave the road or camí del Morer Vermell and take carrer de Tito Cittadini and then camí de s’Hort des Moros. This road takes you to Mal Pas through pine and holm oak forests and fields with trees (almond, carob bean and fig trees). You will reach a junction. Ignore the first road to the right (Camí del Mal Pas) leading directly to Alcúdia and take the second road (camí de Muntanya) to the right leading to the south section of Alcúdia’s communal mountain area. The Bonaire residential area is located on the left. Follow the road for 200 metres and leave the residential area behind. The road or camí del Puig Xacó branches from our road to the right. Ignore it and continue on the same road.
A bit further on, turn right onto the camí de s’Alou which rises up. After 500 metres you will reach the highest point of the road from where you can admire a great view of Port d’Alcúdia. From here on, the road descends and becomes flat when it reaches the city outskirts. Follow it until you reach a T-junction. Turn right and after 100 metres you enter Alcúdia. Follow carrer de Jaume II and carrer del Molinot to return to the starting point.
